Custom molder reduces purge consumption by 30% with New & Improved Dyna-Purge® M.

New & Improved Dyna-Purge® M will deliver LeVic Plastics an estimated additional $6,000 per year savings.

Increased product effectiveness combined with post-purging performance allow LeVic's staff to utilize 30% less compound.

LeVic Plastics, Inc. is a custom injection molder and manufacturer of aluminum precision molds with headquarters and facilities in Grandview, MO. Among its many products, the company produces brewhead fittings and disposable instrument parts utilizing Toshiba injection molding equipment with cold runner molds and barrel temperatures from 540° F to 650° F. They run a variety of resins from ABS, PE, PPO, PEI, PP, PA and PVC among others.

LeVic had been using Dyna-Purge® M, a non-abrasive, non-chemical engineered thermoplastic purging compound, with great success. Dyna-Purge® M grade is the most versatile and widely used in the plastics industry. Plant Manager Robert Raybourn said he received a sample of New & Improved Dyna-Purge® M from his Dyna-Purge representative for evaluation. "The sample worked well in the purging of black PEI to white ABS, and we found a decrease in the overall amount of purge needed to remove the PEI resin," he explained. "The ABS material also seemed to clear out the New & Improved Dyna-Purge® M quicker leading to less scrap at start-up."

LeVic Plastics purges after each production run where there is a resin and/or color change, from 5 to 10 times a day on average. Based on this average, they can annualize over $6,000 additional savings using New & Improved Dyna-Purge® M, as 30% less compound is required with the new formula.
