Are you purging with other commercial products?
There are distinct performance differences between commercial purging compounds.
Chemical agents require extra time – hidden costs – for blending or soaking, as well as adjusting machines for
temperature and RPM. These compounds must be removed from the barrel quickly or risk pitting metals or releasing
ammonia and other fumes.
Mechanical-abrasive compounds are pre-blended, but inert fillers (e.g. glass, minerals) in their composition may
cause wear of the screw and barrel tolerance. Abrasives also can freeze with the resident resin if left in the barrel too long.
