Dyna-Purge versus “In-House” Plastic Resins

Learn more about how Dyna-Purge compares to in-house plastic resins.

Minimize Downtime & Reduce Scrap

R

Dyna-Purge  Designed to clean on the first pass, Dyna-Purge minimizes machine downtime to maximize your productivity. Because Dyna-Purge cleans on the first pass, less scrap is produced, which reduces the amount of valuable resin wasted.

Q

In-House Plastic Resins The large volume of resin needed to displace the resident material results in a substantial loss in production time. Resin may “displace” resident material, but will not “clean.”

Easy To Use

R

Dyna-Purge is packaged ready to use. There is no soaking, mixing, or waiting necessary, so there are no hidden costs. Consistent results can be achieved, making it easier to track metrics. Dyna-Purge is introduced at the resident resin processing temperature; it does not require adjusting the machine temperature or RPM speed.

Q

In-House Plastic Resins Some virgin resins are hygroscopic and will need to be dried before using. Reground resin loses some of its properties when initially processed and also, must be ground, stored and set aside for purging. Temperature and RPM settings may need to be adjusted to enhance the viscosity of the resin to be effective.

Economical

R

Dyna-Purge Only a small amount of Dyna-Purge is needed to purge quickly and effectively. Dyna–Purge has an unlimited shelf life.

Q

In-House Plastic Resins Generally 4 times the capacity of the complete machine is needed – more in most cases.

Versatile Application

R

Dyna-Purge is available in a variety of formulations to match specific processes and temperatures.

Q

In-House Plastic Resins are designed for processing – not purging and cleaning.

Safe To Use

R

Dyna-Purge is non-chemical and non-abrasive. It does not cause wear on machines. It is safe for machines and operators, and safe for disposal. Dyna-Purge is thermally stable; it can be left in the machine for shutdown and start-up. All Dyna-Purge products are formulated with FDA compliant ingredients and feature a fresh scent that eliminates odors often associated with purging.

Q

In-House Plastic Resins filled with glass or minerals are abrasive to your equipment. Through repeated use, filled resins may cause pitting, wear, change to machine tolerance, or other damage. Few resins have start-up temperature stability. Incorrect shutdown procedures will result in decomposition and carbon buildup. Some resins may not be FDA compliant and may produce irritating or offensive fumes.

Dyna-Purge versus Chemical Purge Products

Minimize Downtime & Reduce Scrap

R

Dyna-Purge is designed to clean on the first pass, minimizing machine downtime to maximize your productivity. Because Dyna-Purge cleans on the first pass, less scrap is produced, which reduces the amount of valuable resin wasted.

Q

Chemical Purge Products Most chemical purging products require soaking in the barrel to allow the chemical reaction to occur.  Soaking time means lost productivity. Also, chemical products are formulated to alter the viscosity of the resident material to allow it to flow out of the machine; less viscous products will not remove carbonized material.

Dyna-Purge is introduced at the resident resin processing temperature; it does not require adjusting the machine temperature or RPM speed.

Q

Chemical Purge Products Many chemical products are concentrates that require accurate measurement and letdown into a carrier resin. These products must be evenly dispersed and blended to be effective.  This adds complexity and room for error. It also adds time and reduces overall productivity. Some chemical products require adjustments to the temperature and RPM settings. These changes can lead to additional downtime.

Q

Chemical Purge Products Concentrated chemical products require mixing with a carrier, adding a “hidden cost.” Accurate measurement of the concentrate is required. Too much increases the cost without improving the performance. Too little may give poor results. Time wasted by measuring, mixing and blending means lost productivity. Chemical products have a limited shelf life and may expire; liquid concentrates may evaporate/dry or cake.

Q

Chemical Purge Products “One product fits all” solutions cannot deliver optimal results.

Q

Chemical Purge Products Some chemical products have active chemical ingredients that may react with some resins to release noxious fumes or with the metal surface in the barrel and screw causing staining, pitting or other damage. Some chemical products may require special handling for disposal. Some chemical products are not heat stable or safe to be left in the barrel for shutdown. Incorrect shutdown procedures will result in carbon buildup at start-up. Some chemical products may not be FDA compliant and may produce irritating or offensive fumes.

R

Dyna-Purge is designed to clean on the first pass, minimizing machine downtime to maximize your productivity. Because Dyna-Purge cleans on the first pass, less scrap is produced, which reduces the amount of valuable resin wasted.

Q

Mechanical Purge Products Some mechanical purging products incorporate chemical additives. These types of mechanical products require soaking in the barrel to allow the chemical reaction to occur. The soaking period means lost productivity.

These products must be evenly dispersed and blended manually to be effective.  This adds complexity and room for error. It also adds time and reduces overall productivity. Some mechanical products require adjustments to the temperature and RPM settings. Such changes can lead to varying results.
